1. Sorrel is a hibiscus-based brewed drink that stems from the Caribbean, it's particularly popular in places like Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados and Guyana among people of African descent. What I discovered once we started offering our sorrel to the world is that sorrel not only has roots in the Caribbean, it's ancestry stretches back even further to West Africa where it's known as Zobo and Bissap. 

2. Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel is premium hibiscus spiced brewed and aged sorrel based on my Caribbean family's recipe and a dream come true for me. As a teen and young adult on the NYC fashion scene it was my dream that one day there would be great offerings of non alcoholic drinks at the upscale events I'd attend instead of the readily available and promoted alcohol and drugs that'd be passed around. After all, at these events we were already surrounded by very interesting people who were talented and ambitious. Unfortunately together out of cultural habit most people would drink, many would get drunk and so many opportunities for positive connections were missed... the same went for office parties.

I come from a very vibrant Caribbean culture where being fun yet having a sense of reservation and being regal is classic Caribbean woman. Laughing, entertaining, telling stories and connecting comes naturally, no prompts needed. I wanted a drink that bridged my values for sobriety, connection and celebration o so stylishly. Out of this desire, several years later during a spark of both inspiration and desperation for the great sorrel of my teenage years that family members made Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel was born.

3. Over centuries Sorrel has been a drink beloved for it beautiful and antioxidant rich, hibiscus floral taste and surprising and delightful ginger and spice components. It's always been a special drink, labored over by experts and presented on special occasions.
