Exploring the Rich Tradition of Caribbean Sorrel Drink: A Fusion of Trinidadian Smoothness and Jamaican Spice "Hibiscus Roselle"
The main ingredient.
The drink “Sorrel” happens to be named after the main ingredient- this beautiful red flower that looks more like a rose 🌹 when whole and is actually a member of the hibiscus family.
This flower packs a big punch of antioxidants, creating a rich ruby-red color and a florally sweet flavor. We brew it with several other all-natural ingredients. We bottle and let it age to give it a rich and complex taste.
This tradition has long-standing roots in the Caribbean and you can find different twists from Island to Island. Ours is a cross between the Trinidadian and Jamaican styles. Nice and smooth like a Trini and with a spicy ginger edge Jamaicans can’t do without!
The taste? Think: hibiscus, ginger, allspice, cinnamon, and orange peel all brewed, then aged together to create an exciting drink that's been a part of our Caribbean heritage and African legacy. So good and so beloved for centuries, we had to finally bottle up our family recipe in full Brooklyn NYC chic-realness!
