"Basquiat was here"
When I was in college, my first major was fine arts. Throughout that time I honed my skills as an artist while also learning about many great artists, mostly Europeans until one day, a professor turned on a movie called “Basquiat.”
Not knowing what to expect, a few minutes in I was learning about one of the greatest Black artists of the 20th century. I was so thrilled to be learning about Basquiat and empathized with his struggles which I prayed he'd overcome. I was captivated by Baquiat. He felt so familiar.
The year I founded Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel I learned why Basquiat felt so familiar. Jean-Michel Basquiat was born in New York to Haitian and Puerto Rican parents and like many 1st generation Caribbean American's he grew up in none other than East Flatbush, Brooklyn where Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel was founded and just a city block away from where I grew up.
Basquiat died young but his legacy lives on. Those who keep his legacy alive share a common practice with Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel. We share the joy and power of African heritage and Caribbean American's unique style and flavor. When influenced with our individual styles and all the wonders and vibrancy of cosmopolitan influences from New York, USA we create greatness! For all of us, combining all the ingredients that make you YOU is our recipe for success!
Like a great artist we're here to share and disrupt and enhance your nonalcoholic drinking experience and the beverage industry.
"This is a great beverage that goes well with all your special dishes. Highly recommend it... get more than one bottle because you'll be angry when you drink it up and then have to wait for a new shipment...
" I placed my order and it was received in two days, along with a thank you email. Great customer service and an amazing product. Congratulations and praying for your continued success. Keep up the great work.
