Recent. Event. Mishap!
Far too many social activities revolve around alcohol. If you've been back outside socializing at industry events or even late-night hangouts you may have been reintroduced to alcohol being all up in your face... Again!
Earlier this month I was at an awesome event at my favorite department store celebrating Black Business Month. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic mixers with Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel were being served. I and about 2/3 of the crowd chose to enjoy the NA Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel mixers but later on, I mistakenly picked up a boozy mix, had a few sips and felt so bad during the long cab ride from Midtown to home. Call me a super-light weight... I still feel it's odd that people have built a tolerance for this poison aka alcohol.
Has this ever happened to you?
When you're deliberately being sober to stay sober challenges arise. Mistakes happen. What's key is to of course give yourself grace. Next up, have a plan! I got hit with this boozy dose of horror because I wanted to take a pic with a Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel drink in hand. Having finished mine, I picked up a drink that was laying around. It really goes to show why Muslims can't even touch alcohol (upcoming topic!). Literally, my thirst instinct led me to gulp, and then... well you know the rest.
So what can we do? We have to influence the drink selections and even encourage people to have sober events.
This Black Business Month we encourage your activism around not only making great drink selections by choosing to order from us, but spread the word!
It's time to take things up a notch! Please let 3 of your friends know about Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel and ask them to make their first purchase to enjoy a great non-alcoholic cocktail while economically empowering a Black business and our communities.
