Reconnected with my sober friend ðŸ‘
I recently caught up with a long time friend when I went to a Somi & Friends concert at the Apollo theater as part of The Apollo’s Africa Now Festival.Â

It’d been months since we last met and with her living in another city, and me living in Brooklyn I was particularly elated to see my friend at this concert in Harlem. The concert ended late, she and I had orchestra seats located on opposite sides of the Apollo, I gave her a call and luckily she was just as excited and free as me to meet up afterwards. Oddly there aren’t many restaurants and It felt like we met after decades, so we decided to catch up over some mocktails at the only restaurant that’s open at that time which was the local red lobster.Â

They didn’t have anything on their list so with all courage and straight up looks to the bartender we ordered Shirley Temple, a favorite childhood drink made of grenadine, lime soda and garnished with a cherry on top served in a tall glass. Although he thought he was set up for a joke, he actually made us the most respectable Shirley temple I’ve ever seen.
