The 1st time we created Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel
The first time we created Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel was out of my home kitchen. I was back living home with my parents and had a craving for sorrel so my dad gave me his recipe. Fast forward to a few months later we wanted to sell it. I got a Muslima french marketing intern from Bordeaux, France, and researched packaging. Meanwhile, this is how my packaging looked.
Not bad… but we could do better.
So I researched packaging. It was my first time going into alcohol stores and I was super impressed with the packaging I saw. So beautiful but what an illusion. I had a folder full of research, and images taken at various shops. I have a BFA in fashion design so it was easy enough to transfer those skills to package design research and communicating these ideas to the small marketing team I was developing that summer. Through this intern, she recommended a graphic design friend also in Bordeaux, working within the wine industry, we worked together and designed the packaging’s first iterations.
Our packaging is designed to be artful, classy, and modern while telling a story of Caribbean people & sorrel’s triumphant journey into Brooklyn and us preserving our rich history. Take a closer look at your bottle next time you purchase.
Each bottle is valued not only for the drink itself but for the 400 years of Caribbean heritage connected with it. Leaving you a valuable souvenir-like feeling you can share or gift to your loved ones.
Never miss a toast with our authentic nonalcoholic Caribbean mocktail!
"I ordered a large bottle just to give it a try. Needless to say, it was gone in a matter of days... and I didn't share with anyone! I placed another order, this time for several bottles so now I don't have to worry about running out. Love it!
" I placed my order and it was received in two days, along with a thank you email. Great customer service and an amazing product. Congratulations and praying for your continued success. Keep up the great work.
