Generally, we call it a mocktail but many of our Muslim friends and customers lovingly call it “Halal Wine”.
Which is no surprise since Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel has gained the tagline It tastes better than wine from so many customers over the years.
Today we want to take a little trip down memory lane to our early beginnings at 2015 Muslim Mipsterz day parties (remember those?!... the day parties that is :) in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
Back then we were typically stuck with tea. Until one Saturday when I came through with the first batch of Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel I’d ever made. Imagine how excited people were (very!) when this delicious spicy, complex mocktail was brought into the scene. The response was so positive I started taking notes on people's reactions. They were so enthused, they gave me that extra Umph(!) to keep making Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel and sharing more. I’m still so grateful for the positive responses from my peers, Mipsterz day party after party they’d ask me to sell my drink there and I did and from there branched out more and more.
Today, I continue to be extremely proud to share with the Muslim community a mocktail that won’t compromise their values and beliefs and keep you feeling special at parties and special events.

I received my order. At the first sip I was somewhat surprised, it didn’t taste like our cherished Christmas Sorrel. I then realized it is not supposed to. I continued to sip. The taste of the blended spices mingled with that of the Sorrel was indeed delightful. I shared a glass to my sister, she was very impressed. We decided that this beverage will be our choice for family events and other fetes. This is the drink that will make the non-imbiber feel included. It could possibly cause those who like strong to crossover. CONGRATULATIONS on your WONDERFUL product!
