Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel Timeline
In 2015 I began creating my dad's sorrel which he hadn't produced in 10 years, bottled it and brought it to a few parties, and after many requests to sell it, business was born. Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel is carrying the tradition of delicious naturally good festive Caribbean drinks forward by creating authentic Sorrel, mocktail style.
Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel is loved by Beyoncé, Bon Appetit magazine, Epicurious, James Beard Foundation and countless fans.
From being shared to a small circle of friends, colleagues, and families to being on the menu at your weddings, birthday parties, Thanksgiving celebrations, ordered for large corporate event at Google, Bloomberg, Amazon, the NBA and more, we're very proud to play an uplifting part in your lives. | CEO and Founder, Nzinga Knight grew up watching and tasting her Trini dad's Sorrel. Coming from a rich Trinidadian culture, as a child, her father's delicious and complex hibiscus-spiced brewed sorrel became a favorite of their family's and around Brooklyn. |

| In 2015, She began creating her dad's sorrel which he hadn't produced in 10 years. She made 4 gallons of authentic Caribbean sorrel in her home kitchen, bottled it, labeled it using her spare designing materials, and brought it to a few parties. |

After so many requests to sell her homemade authentic Caribbean sorrel, business was born. Her first client was Atiya who purchased a bottle of sorrel as a gift on Mother's day. |

In 2016, Nzinga started brewing small batches at her first commercial kitchen based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. |

In 2019, due to customer satisfaction and the growing popularity of BBS with higher-volume orders online, from shops, restaurants, and event planners + gift box companies, we started working with a co-packing company to meet the demands. This has allowed us to have a more consistent product and ship more orders quickly. Nzinga oversees production and tastes every batch. |
