PCOS Awareness month feature- Cinnamon as PCOS Superfood
Let's talk about one of my favorite spices found in Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel, cinnamon. Cinnamon in Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel gives off a sweet and woody flavor which makes it more healthy and complex.
But did you know that it's more than just a spice?
Now hear me out as you might want to sprinkle cinnamon on everything after reading this.
In celebration of PCOS Awareness Month, we'd like to share with you that cinnamon is also very beneficial to women struggling with PCOS.
It is estimated that between five to 10 percent of U.S. women of childbearing age have PCOS. That’s about 5 million women.
PCOS or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is one of the most common endocrine disorders found in women where they suffer an array of possible symptoms including obesity, irregular menstruation cycles, infertility, depression, acne, hair loss, and more.
A randomized controlled clinical trial has provided evidence that:
- Cinnamon may be an effective supplement option for some women with PCOS.
- balance out sugar levels, boosting metabolism/weight loss, and assisting insulin resistance which is very important when managing PCOS
Cinnamon when used in small amounts or in moderation is linked to other health benefits like improving fungal infections, preventing Alzheimer’s disease, preventing multiple sclerosis, lowering the effects of high fat meals, treating and healing chronic wounds, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, preventing cancer and many more.
